Compare Plug-In & Workshare® DeltaView® Product Comparison Sheet

The popular software used to redline documents, LEXIS®-NEXIS® CompareRite™, was retired in February of 2002. If you are looking for a CompareRite replacement, this product comparison sheet will help you evaluate your choices in document redlining tools.

System Requirements: Both require Microsoft Word and similar other system requirements.
Ease of Use: Compare Plug-In is easier to use than Workshare® DeltaView® because with Compare Plug-In, complete functionality is available through integration with context menus; there are no dialog boxes for the user to interact with to perform a document comparison and view the redline document. With Workshare DeltaView, the user has to interface with dialog windows and it is more steps to select the original document, modified document, and launch the redline in a word processor.
API: Workshare DeltaView’s COM API is not publicly available and must be licensed separately under special agreement. Compare Plug-In’s COM API is included with the product.

Compare large documents: Because Compare Plug-In uses the same document comparison engine as the built-in Compare Documents feature of Word, Compare Plug-In inherits many of the same limitations of the MS Word Compare. One of these limitations is the inability to compare large (greater than 9 pages as a rule-of-thumb) documents or documents with complex formatting.
